If You Go Into the Woods Today…

Remember the back-to-the-land movement? It might have looked pretty ideal to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city to live as one with nature. But what was it really like?

First, you better not forget anything when it's a 6 hour drive to the nearest town. Second, how do you support yourself and your family when there's nothing but wilderness for hundreds and hundreds of miles? And most importantly, keep an eye out at all times, because there's critters in them thar woods.

In this episode, Boomer guest Pamela Fenske, relates what it was like living alone for months on end as one of the first female fire tower look-out rangers - all while raising three sons in the wilds of British Columbia.
